Ich muss demnächst eine Präsentation über eine Sprachschule halten. Ich wäre euch sehr dankbar, wenn ihr kurz über meinen Text drüber schauen könntet
My presentation is about the language school „******” where I was in August. My talk is divided into five parts. Firstly I will talk about my decision to go to a language course. Then I will look at general information about the language school. After that I’ll go on with information about the accommodations. Next I'll tell you how the lessons where organized and finally I talk about the activities which the school offers.
Now I’ll start with the first part – my decision.
I decided to make a language course because I want to do a working Holiday in Australia and/or New Zealand next year and I thought this would be a good opportunity to improve my English. I informed myself about some language schools. First I chose another school. I thought the school must be not so good because it was the cheapest school which I found on the internet. But when I read the reasons why they are so cheap I decided to go there. I will tell you the reasons later at the presentation.
Let’s move on to the general information.
The school is located in a quiet residential area in the city Bournemouth which is in the south of England at the sea. The town center is just 5 minutes on foot from the school and the beautiful sandy beaches just 10 minutes
. The school is owned by the German company “*****”.
The founder of the company *****was *****. The first language course he organized was in 1983. After a short time he founded the company “*****”. In the first years they rent the rooms for teaching but in 1995 they built their own school in Bournemouth which is called “*****”. Since 2004 the founder’s sons manage the English company ****** .
And that’s why the prices are cheaper than from the others: they own the ***** in England and Valletta. They don’t convey the study travels, so they don’t must raise their prices because they don’t have to pay an agency fee.
Today they offer study travels and language courses in England (in Portsmouth and Corfe Castle) and Malta. Since last year they also have an own language school in Malta.
The school in Bournemouth is accredited by the British Council. The UK’s international organization for educational opportunities and cultural relations.
I’ll go on with my third part – the accommodations.
They offer modern and comfortable residence accommodation in the center of Bournemouth or you can stay with a host family.
I lived in a host family because it is a great way to practice my spoken English outside of school and learn more about the culture. I needed 15 minutes by bus to go to the school and 30 minutes by bus to went to the city center. My family was very nice, spoke a lot with us when we were eating and they were very interested in our life and culture.
Now I’ll move to my fourth part - the lessons
This is my time table. I booked a super intensive course with 30 lessons per week and a conversation club on Friday. Here you can see that the morning lessons began at 8:45 and finished at one p.m. We mostly worked with the student book and learned grammar in those lessons. At the afternoon lessons, which started at 2 p.m. and lasts for one or two hours, we did more conversations or played games. Every Friday I had the conversation club. In those lessons I only had conversations with other students. The teacher gave us some topics and we could talk about the topics or about other things. Sometimes we also discuss a topic with the whole group.
In my class there were around 5 students from different countries. Every class has between 3 and 10 students.
Finally I’ll talk about the activities which are offered by the school and the city.
Every Friday the school offers an excursion. For example, we visited the thousand year old royal castle “corf castle”, the town Swanage which is at the coast and an old village in which the roof from the houses were built with straw.
They informed us about activities in the city on a board at school. These were activities like bowling or conversation club in pups. Every Tuesday and Thursday was a conversation club where you could talk to other foreign people who are in England because of a job, internship or a language course.
Every Friday they showed a movie with English subtitle.
The city Bournemouth offers many leisure activities because there are many students. It is a popular nightlife destination with many clubs, bars and restaurants located within the town center. You can go to concerts or the theater at Pavilion Theatre and O2 Academy or just relax in the Central Garden. Bournemouth is currently host to a number of festivals. For example the Food and Drink Festival, Arts by the Sea Festival and the air festival. They organize a firework at the beach every Friday on summer.
Schon mal vielen Dank im voraus!
Liebe Grüße
Jasmin
