Re: apply, insert, put in
"In" is a location and "into" is a direction. Since "put" is a verb of direction the prepositon "into" is more appropriate (although you may find that "in" is used by some lazy speakers).

Then I'll be a lazy speaker ^^tiorthan hat geschrieben:"In" is a location and "into" is a direction. Since "put" is a verb of direction the prepositon "into" is more appropriate (although you may find that "in" is used by some lazy speakers).
It's easier to be a lazy speaker.

Re: apply, insert, put in
What I meant by lazy speaker is someone who cannot be bothered to pronounce the second syllable. For a foreign language learner this is actually more difficult because, in addition to knowing the real meaning of "in" and "into" you have to know the rules about when one can replace the other.Nikolai hat geschrieben: Then I'll be a lazy speaker ^^
