Hallo liebe Forennutzer!
When I was five I wanted to be a firefigher, at eight I wanted to be a hairdresser and as an eleven-year-old after meeting my first real role model, the director abc, I wanted to be an actress like many other girls. Luckily I soon discovered that I am definitely not the most talented actress but the decision was made.
From 2004 to 2012 I was involved in many theatre productions, I spent my first work experience at the State Operaabc, I was, as part of my theatre's ensemble, able to go on tour around theabc, I went toabcHighschool inabcto take Drama as a subject and to be taught in English literature. I assisted the technican at the local event centre and I graduated with NCEA L3 in December 2011. Back in Germany, I was an Intern at the Theaterabc(abbbyacc, directed byaaa) and in September 2012, I began my year as a Multiplier atabcan independent theatre inabc, Germany that executes a broad palette of projects that range from experimental theatre over pedagogical projects with children, disabled and teenagers to professional theatre productions. Working together with a team of experienced teachers, pedagogues, artists, directors and enthusiastic young people, gave me the possibility be part in over 20 projects in one year only, my highlights being a large-scale theatre production with over 150 children on stage, 'abc' a trash performance on our relationship to money and consumption I developed with my colleagues for a Festival inabcthat has now also been invited to theabc100° Festival in Berlin, my years team production ofabc’s 'abc' that won a State Price for Non-Professional theatre, directing four of my colleagues to portray Franz Kafka, abc, abcand Wilhelm Busch at a Dead or Alive Poetry Slam and last but not least being the co-teacher at a Turkish-German Drama Group and getting them to proudly perform in public.
I also passed my ‘BuT Spielleiter’ examination, a qualification certified by the Association of Theatre Pedagogues. My time as a Multiplier ended in July 2013 but I have since come back to join them as an actor in the classroom play 'abc'.
Over the year and a half I worked at and withabc, I learnt how much theatre can really make a difference to peoples lives. I learnt that a group of colleagues that are friends is essential to successful collective work and I learnt that there are many more ways to achieve contemporary relevance than I thought there were.
It wasn't however until I started my Dramaturgy internship at the xyz Theater xyz (xyz by Martin Crimp, directed by xyz) this November that I discovered that I do like professional theatre but that what I want to do is something that shares more points of contacts with what is around me.
My main reason for applying for Contemporary Performance Practice at the xyz is that there are no similar courses in Germany. I want to learn and be good at something that 'makes sense' and the CCP programme seems to be built around what and who we are. There are plenty of possibilities to connect with our surroundings, for example the community projects in Level Two and Three and that the different kinds of effects our work can have is not forgotten. This, to me, makes sense.
In the future I want to organize projects with and for communities, schools or youth groups in my hometown that, at the moment, is cultural waste land. I want to go a step beyond plain drama teaching or only using drama methods as a pedagogical tool and instead leave an impression on the people associated with the projects. I want to connect art and education again without one of them being left out.
I also want to establish international cultural exchange and networking in the area and and I feel that I can only achieve with the experience, the knowledge and the skills I hope to gain in the CCP programme.
Apart from theatre I enjoy to sing, to dance, to snowboard and to discover the world, sometimes on my motorcycle. I like to hear stories in any form, be it plays, books or told tales.
