An sich sind diese 3 Worte austauschbar, in schriftlicher Kommunikation wird jedoch idR "reply" verwendet, da "please reply within a week" hoeflicher klingt als "please answer within a week".

respond to something.

Beide Wörter kann man zwar auch mit einem direkten Objekt (also ohne "to") verwenden, dann ist das "something" jedoch das was man antwortet.
