Guten Abend liebe Community,

Children between the ages 6 and 9 attend primary school (grade 1 - 4). Depending on the pupils academic performance teachers advice and parents decide which sencondary school the children go to next.

In Germany there are different types of secondary school.

For children whose academic performance are very good attend grammar school. This is a school for young peoble between the ages 11 and 18 who are good at academic subjects. Succesful people obtan the A-Levels. Grammar school is the highest secondary school which pupil can attend. They have the option to study directly at university or college.

Comprehensive school is a combination of modern secondary school, higher secondary school and grammar school. Which one the pupil attend depend on their academic performance.

Thank you very much for your quick answer.

I thought the english meaning of "Fachhochschule" is "college". I haven't known exactly the English translation of it so I used "college".
In bavaria we don't have "Höhere Handelsschule" only "Wirtschaftsschule" but i think it is not the same as "Höhere Handelsschule".

Following I describe "Wirtschaftsschule" shortly

Wirtschaftsschule / commercial school is for young people whose academic performance are good. Pupils aged between 12 and 16 attend the grades 7 - 10. In contrast to higher secondary school pupils get a vocational training in business and administration there. After the grade 10 succesfull graduates gain a qualification equivalent to the GCE.

In my last post i forgot to write about the German kindergarden
Kindergarden is for very young people aged between 3 and 6. They learn to get on well with another children.

I'd suggest the use of university of applied sciences as it is found on many official websites.

In the following paragraph I shortly describe the "Wirtschaftsschule".

Kindergarten is for very young children aged between 3 and 6.
Among other things they learn how to get on well with other children.
