Hi there everybody,
even if I think that my English is not too bad (I have followed a 4 year full time course of study in the UK), I have a problem to understand a simple phrase from US televison. That might sound a bit ridiculous, and I had never thought that such a thing could ever happen. But things are how they are.
The phrase is:
"Due to mature subject matter viewer discretion is adviced."
I know the meaning of each word, but I am not 100 % sure about the meaning of the whole context.
Can anybody tell me what this context means (in German or in other English words).
Thanks a lot in advance!
Markus

Re: translation request
"Due to mature subject matter viewer discretion is advised."
It's a warning, letting the viewer know they may not want to watch the program;
it may contain something they don't want to watch, such as violence or sexual content.
Therefore, it means that adults should make a conscious decision whether or not to watch it,
and be very careful about letting children see it.
"Discretion" is simply choosing not to watch. Taking it one step further,
"discretion" may also refer to choosing what to allow someone else (such as your children) to watch.
mature subject matter -> content aimed at an adult audience
using discretion
The ability to make decisions which represent a responsible choice and
for which an understanding of what is lawful, right or wise may be presupposed.
