Text zu Technik

Beitrag von foreignspeaking »

Hallo zusammen,

There are several different ways to connect your pc or notebook to your TV. The most popular cables you can use are VGA and hdmi cables. At first we will discuss the pros and cons of the both ways and then give you some tips on setting everything up.

VGA or hdmi?

The very best way to connect your pc or notebook to your TV is by using an hdmi cable. You’re not only capable to use only one cable for video and audio transmitting but also receive a digital signal on your TV. The video quality is in general also a little bit better than by a VGA cable, so we can say that connection by an hdmi cable is the way to go.

:read: Tip: in English, whenever you use an acronym instead of spelling out several words, you must capitalize all of the letters in the acronym.

Thus, when you want to say personal computer, you write it as PC, not pc.

Since HDMI is an acronym for High-Definition Multimedia Interface, all of the letters in are capitalized. Writing 'hdmi' is incorrect.

Same goes for other acronyms, such as USA, NASA, DDR, EU, USSR, DVD, CD, MPH, KPH, etc. :jo:

The only two exceptions to this rule that I can think of are acronyms that have over time become real words in the English language.

These are the words laser and scuba (as in scuba diving). LASER stands for light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation. SCUBA stands for self-contained underwater breathing apparatus.

Since these have become 'real' words, you do not need to capitalize them. :wink1:

Let's not forget radar, which stands for radio detection and ranging.
