Was ist korrekt - ich finde bei google.com beides im gleichen Sinn verwendet:

"We got the first choice, which means a great advantage for our group."
"We got the first choice, which means a great advantage to our group."

(Im Sinne davon, daß die Gruppe davon profitiert, in einem Wettbewerb als erste an der Reihe zu sein.)

Ich bin für "for", aber das wäre eine 1:1-Übersetzung.

Die Bedeutung ist etwas unterschiedlich, aber ich könnte das jetzt nicht direkt in Worte fassen.

"for" -> die Gruppe als Ganzes profitiert.
"to" -> jedes einzelne Mitglied der Gruppe profitiert.

Könnte man es so interpretieren ? Jedenfalls scheint man beides verwenden zu können.

I would use for in this sentence though. To is rather used with the thing that is advantageous.
