to (don't) know jack

Hallo zusammen,

ich habe wieder mal eine Frage..

Es geht um die das Wort jack (sh*t)!

Mein Lieblingswörterbuch sagt folgendes:

to know jack (sh*t) about sth. - einen Dreck von etw. verstehen

aber..
You don't know jack (sh*t)! - Du weißt gar nichts.


Das Problem:
Wenn to know jack (sh*t) heißt, dass man nichts versteht wäre ja das don't überflüssig.
Und wenn ich das don't weglasse würde der Satz ja genau das Gegenteil aussagen und zwar, dass mann alles versteht.

Ich hoffe ihr kommt mit, denn was jetzt kommt macht das ganze noch komplizierter.

Ich habe jack (sh*t) im urbandictionary.com nachgeschaut.

Und mir kommt es so vor als könnte man sich aussuchen ob man don't sagt oder nicht. Die Aussage bleibt gleich.

Jack (sh*t) ist aber keine Ausnahme. Das gleiche ist auch bei f*ck all.

I suppose it's like saying 'you don't know nothing' or 'you know nothing' both have the same meaning although the first actually means, if you don't know nothing then you must know everything (doppelte verneinung) this double negative is used quite often and understood as 'you know nothing' (which is correct) I personally correct people using this double negative, although 'you don't know jack s---' or 'you don't know f--- all' is normally spoken by people who don't give a f--- if their English is right or wrong

ich hatte mir diese Frage persönlich auch noch nicht gestellt. Nach etwas Nachdenken fiel mir ein, ob es vielleicht damit zu tun haben könnte, ob man sagen will "Du hast keine Ahnung von..." = "You don't know jack **** about..." oder ein ganz unspezifisches "Du hast ja keine Ahnung/weißt überhaupt nix!" = "You know jack ****!"

Aber ich schließe mich Caro auch gerne an und rufe in die Wüste: Seid freundlich zueinander und gebraucht solcherlei Formulierungen doch gar nicht!
