Art project
Yesterday my sister surprisingly asked me to look after her son Joey for the afternoon, because she had to run some important errands. I love my little nephew he is a sweet and very special boy and I was looking forward to spend some time with him. He just turned five and likes to do art projects. Yesterday he wanted to build an airplane out of cardboard with me. He drew a draft of it on a white piece of paper. His fine motor skills are still developing and his movements are not very smooth. He had difficulties holding his pencil with a functional grip. He held the pencil in the fist of his right hand, putting too much pressure on it when drawing. He was holding his scissors with an appropriate grip, but had difficulties staying on the line while cutting and could not stop at the corners to turn and cut along a different direction. Joey was able to turn directions, when I was supporting him at the corners. He did not show difficulties while cluing all the parts of the airplane together and did a great job in painting it. At the end his airplane was flying pretty good and we where both happy.
