wir müssen gerade kurze Erörterungen in Englisch schreiben. Da ich grammatikalisch darin nicht so stark vertreten bin, würde ich mich freuen, wenn jemand diesen kurzen Aufsatz korrigieren würde.

Composition about the subject being unemployed

During the world financial crisis the unemployment rate grew sharply in the United States and in other countries. Many people fall into poverty, because they have no jobs to earn money. But sliding into unemployment doesn´t only mean to live on the door with a little monthly budget, it has also more effects, even on the society of a country.

Many unemployed persons are feeling depressed and hopeless, by writing a huge amount of applications without getting any acceptance from the companies. Psychological problems are often the result from that. Those humans are disappointed by themselves, because they have no opportunity to claim up their career level.
Another problem is that unemployment is not accepted by our society. Many people without a job live isolated from the rest. A reason of that behavior is that employed people criticize unemployed. In their point of view, people with work have only to pay and support those people without. So these groups of people see unemployed only as parasites.

By summing up these arguments, we can note that unemployment is a huge problem of our modern society. We have to help those people, who have no jobs, to live on their own feeds. We need also more acceptance in our society against people who need our financial support. We must stick together, to fight against the poverty and unemployment.

Oh, sind die so schlecht?

bei "to live on the door" habe ich mich verschrieben, ich meinte eigentlich "to live on the dole"
"to claim up their career level", naja die Karriereleiter aufsteigen, dachte ich wäre mit der Umschreibung am besten übersetzt
"to live on their own feeds" , hab ich einfach aus dem Deutschen übersetzt, auf eigenen Füßen stehen, darf ich so eine Umgangssprache nicht ins Englische übersetzen?

"live on the dole" empfinde ich nicht zum Ton des restlichen Textes passend, ich würde eher "live on welfare" sagen.

"to stand on their own feet"

Wenn du eine Redewendung wörtlich aus dem Deutschen übersetzt kannst du zwar Glück haben, wie hier (wenn du die richtigen Wörter genommen hättest) aber bei sehr vielen wirst du einfach Pech haben, dass es keine wörtliche Übersetzung gibt.

Na gucke, da habt Ihr die Unklarheiten ja beseitigt. Es ist wirklich gut, wenn Du Dich um idiomatische Redewendungen bemühst, aber die müssen dann auch stimmen. D.h. ruhig ins Wörterbuch schauen, nicht einfach so 1:1 übersetzen, das geht oft schief!

Danke, das wusste ich gar nicht, ich kannte bisher nur das Wort "dole" an sich. Wird es direkt als Redewendung verwendet wie "von der Stütze leben" im Deutschen, oder ist "dole" nur gebräuchlicher im UK?

"to be on the dole" ist in UK einfach sehr gebraeuchlich. Dein Vorschlag "to live on welfare" dagegen gar nicht. Ist das vielleicht eher amerikanisch? In UK sagt man eher "to be on (state) benefits", wenn man nicht "to be on the dole" verwenden will. Im Nordosten sagt man auch noch "to be on nash", aber ich glaube nicht, dass man das im Sueden kennt.

Ja, ich nehme an, dass welfare eher Amerikanisch ist. Im Gespräch mit meinen britischen Freunden ist das Thema bisher noch nicht zur Sprache gekommen. In Amerika machen sie sich scheinbar mehr Sorgen.
